Since September 2002 Giorgio Ziffer is Professor of Slavic Philology at the University of Udine, where he started working in February 1991. In the past he also taught as Visiting Professor Old Church Slavonic Language and Literature at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria (from 2011 to 2019), and Slavic Philology at the University of Trieste (from 2012 to 2014). He is Fellow of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation (Bonn, May 1994 – February 1995; Berlin, August 2007, August 2008 and July 2018); and he has also been Petro Jacyk Fellow of the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute (February – June 2015). His main interests lie in the areas of Old Church Slavonic Language and Literature, Cyrillomethodian Studies, History of Slavic Studies, Theory of Textual criticism.
